Blueberries, corn, eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes...

Oooh hooo... the temperatures these days...
The highs oscilate between 35 and 36 degrees....
Scorching.... burning.... brutal...
Each day during the weekends when I do the garden, I need to change my garden clothes three to four times, alternating between two sets of clothes...
Had planted three blueberry seedlings some years ago...
This year, they are fruiting quite substantially...
Each day, we get to harvest a little bit of the fruits...
We take them with our yogurt for breakfast...
Corn is really doing well, despite being attacked by pests...
We love the taste of home-grown corn so much that we decided to buy more seeds...
They are now beginning to germinate and we hope to see some harvest in October....
Planted only one eggplant this season...
They are heavy feeders and they need quite a bit of water....
Next season, I shall add one more seedling as my sweeto haato is beginning to like eggplants...
As with the eggplant, I have only one zucchini plant....
It is just sufficient for the two of us...
Tomatoes are a regular member at our potager...
We can't get enough of them...
My missus sometimes cooks some lovely Ratatouille with the tomatoes, zucchini, and eggplant together with some other ingredients...

  3. I love, love, love the corn photo. I too end up changing clothes many times when I garden although often its because I wasn't really planning to do any gardening but end up out there and in shoes that I really don't want to get covered in mud...

    1. Eggplants can be quite tricky to grow... they really need qute a bit of attention (as in fertilizer and water)...

  10. I wish I could have some of your egg plant. :-)It looks so nice! I have none and I started my plants from seed hoping to save seed this year of a white heirloom type. The flea bug destroyed them and I have not had an egg plant all summer....Do you have any ideas how to fight this little critter without chemicals? robbie:-) we had a warm winter which did not kill a lot of things, drought hurting things, too.....good to hear you have egg plant...I will try again next year. We enjoy fried egg plant-yum....but we do have other things doing well, so it is not a loss....

    1. Robbie... actually, no, I do not really have any idea on how to tackle the flea bug except to manually remove them by hand... not a very practical way...

  13. I never used to like to eat eggplants until I studied in Japan. Japan eggplants have really dark purple skin. I am trying to find more japanese eggplant variety just managed to find one here which is called 'kamo'. Hope you get more sweet corn harvest!

  17. Wonderful Lrong! Ratatouille made from fresh vegetables sounds very good. Did you get to try our local version when you visited the Philippines?
