Bones into the soil

Winds are howling and temperatures are dipping...
The lows are around zero degree with the highs hovering around five degrees...
There was sleet last night and snow is forecasted for this evening...
The Japan Inland Sea is choppy and fising boats nor fishermen are nowhere to be seen...
Hopefully, my plants are bracing well for this cold weather...
We bought two pieces of 'chicken skeletons' from the supermarket two days ago...
My missus make soup stock from them...
We do not throw away chicken bones or fish bones...
The same goes for other kitchen scraps...
I just took the bones to the potager and had them buried in one of the plots...
They make good fertilizer...
And the cold winds... ooh... had to make a run back to the house...

  1. Hajimemashite Lrong Lim sensei, I don't think you are a student-gardenar anymore, you grow everything so well and healthy food. I think you are sensei in gardening as well. Thank you for visiting my blog, so I can follow you back. We also keep chicken and fish bones and buried them back in our plot. 新年あけましておめでとうございます。

  2. I love making Winter soups with chicken stock! Something about the cold weather and dark this time of year makes me crave hot soups!

  3. Malay-Kadazan Girl... danke for your compliments, but I still have a lot to learn from Mother Earth... it seems like you have some training in Nihongo... no?

Matron... same-same here with me on soups in winter... I am always asking my missus to prepare these stuff in this season... and we are into kimchi-nabe (spicy Korean kimchi hot pot) with fish and tons of vegetables and tofu...

  5. A hot bowl of chicken soup is certainly good for the body and soul. Glad to stumble upon your blog today. Since it is cold and wintry now, you will have more time to travel round the world of cyberspace. Keep up the good job in your garden and potager. Happy New Year 2011!
